September Glories 2015

It is a hazy, September morning, as the sun rises higher over the tree tops, slowly engulfing all that is left of the summer of 2015's morning glory flowers.  They grow along the rail of my small deck looking so beautiful during mid-summer, autumn and fall.  I love peering at the blue flowers from my window and out my front door.  They have a calming effect as they brighten the deck.

I am glad to be alive to see them blooming another year, because my health has been poor this year.  I sit in my wheelchair by the propped-open storm door, watching my dear hubby, as he takes the last few pictures of the them.  Actually, most of the pictures turned out blurry when downloaded to my computer.   I didn't have the heart to pull him away from his Sunday paper to ask him to redo them.  He tries so hard.  I told him they were good enough, when he asked how they turned out.  I am lucky to even be alive and able to enjoy the lovely flowers this year because of bad health.

The end of the 2015 season is upon us.  The kids will start school the day after labor day around here. With the change in the weather, 60 degrees today, these lovely morning flowers won't be around much longer.  They have already begun to turn brown and have small holes in the leaves from bug bites.  No matter how much you spray, the bugs always seem to get to the leaves.  Very soon after the sun rises higher in the sky, the flowers close tight against the hot rays and do not open again until the next morning. When winter arrives, the flowers will have turned to seed pods sitting on gnarled, brown vines.  If we leave them alone and don't cut them down, the seeds will fall to the earth below and come up, in full bloom, next summer.  However, since the empty vines look so dismal,  cutting them down seems to be the appropriate action, along with fall pruning of my two lovely rose bushes.   However, some of the seeds will make the fall-to-earth around the outside of my deck and endure the winter, to become lovely flowers enjoyed next year.

Everyone should get outside and enjoy those beautiful  gypsy colors of orange, red, and gold, that will soon be falling from the trees.  Take care, always, your friend, Cooky :).

Writing and Painting Inside - Forget it !

This author finds that with the advent of summer and its warmer weather, the nesting habits of birds and natures' radiance is much more conducive to being outside than typing on a computer inside.
As I lazily daydream through a recently cleaned and sparking windowpane at the lovely trees and flowers, butterflies and other flying creatures fluttering about, no thoughts of yesteryear come to mind. Writing another book seems a waste of time when one could be outside enjoying the sunshine. Or is that just an excuse not to write?

I have yet to find a publisher for my first, but definitely not my last, book. A publisher recently told me that it was a myth regarding someone else picking up the tab for printing and distribution of books even those from best seller writers of today. I believe him now, although I did not at first. Nothing is free in this life and that goes for publishing and printing a book it seems. It is discouraging of course to a would-be writer, because lack of funds should not stop one from being published and heard or recognized for one's writing abilities. However, I know I will find away around this ghastly problem eventually and will not stay discouraged.

Am I dreaming to think that everything on my message board will come true? Getting my book published, printed and out there for the world to enjoy as it conveys my philosophy on my life's issues are on the board big time, up there right along with money and good health as a primary goals in my life.

I have hear that everyone needs at least ten minutes of sunshine daily to get nourishment from the sun's rays. Therefore, as my neighbor tells me to do, I will get out there and sit a spell in the sunshine to soak up its warmth and feel better about myself and the economy can go to the devil.
God Bless and Keep You All

Whats With This?

Whats With This?  Weather and politics scare me.  It's mainly, because weather causes such ongoing disasters worldwide and politicians are making more disaster by stealing us blind.  All this is making life, living, working, playing and paying our bills very difficult in this day and age.  Of course, history repeats itself, but can add up to a lot of intimidation and hardship for some folks.
Medicare for example is so screwed up, fleecing artists advertise on television that, "if you have medicare..." they can give you a better medical item such as diabetes equipment and supplies.  They will even bill medicare for us.  Of course, we don't know how much they bill medicare for something that our primary health insurance can provide easy enough, if they want to.
Dental care is expensive and elusive to some of us who cannot afford it.  My dental care went from nine dollars a month to well over one-hundred dollars per month.  However, they still only provide fifty percent payment for  "some" procedures.  Dental care is not covered in my health care plan.  That's terrible, because health plans push preventive medicine as a cure all but forget about our teeth as a source of illness in our bodies.    It has been a proven fact that bad teeth can erase any preventive treatments available, causing havoc in our bodies, making us sick as dogs.  Mention this to a physician and they say well yes, the plan doesn't cover anything but x-rays and cleaning.  My husband was quoted eleven-thousand to fix his teeth. Does medicare do any better at helping provide much needed low cost dental care?  Cat and Dogs who are provided free or low-cost spay and neutering have a far better change at being healthier than humans with bad teeth.
My brother-in-law, bless his dear soul, called to report flooding due to two rising rivers from extreme rain  in Calgary, AL.  His nephew's family had to evacuate to higher ground.  In fact, over 100,000 people there had to take shelter where ever they could find it, because of the overflow of the two rivers that run through that city according to the newspaper.  Its good that we do get some information down here in the USA regarding our northern neighbors.  Not to mention that their prime minister is as crooked as the many politicians around D.C. and Virginia to mention a few places.   Elected officials should not take advantage of their position to fleece the people and the government in any country, but they surely do make quite a business of breaking the law.  The courts give them a slap on the hand or a jail sentence the equivalent of a paid vacation for retribution.
I'm still struggling to understand how medicare combined with new government health care, run by the the IRS, will help me and millions of other old folks get better health care.   A long with hurricane force winds, tornadoes and/or drought making life miserable for many, disasters and bad health care, along with just  plain hot, muggy weather adds to a miserable existence for many of us.    Fire and lightening strikes are causing havoc to our forest.  Mud slides and rain are ruining homes and changing coastal lines and killing crops.     Slapping on the sun-screen to protect ourselves against skin cancer is a must all over world.  The hot sun, floods, and fire spread havoc to our forest and near by communities.   A lot has to change before life will get better, if it ever does.  Take care, keep the faith that thing will improve!

Who Will Get Elected & Does It Matter?

Happy April 2012 - Whats New On Virginia's Political Horizon & News? Personally speaking, the race for the next president is ongoing to say the least. However, upsurping that concern is an issue thats hotter than a just-cooked griddle cake! The secret service scandal with prostitutes. Boys will be boys, I say. Come on folks, that stuff in the carribean has been going on for many years. The boys just got caught this time. Should they be making all the fuss over this human flaw...? I feel it should be downplayed like most other grossly overrated news report. It's best not to listen to the news now days, or read the newspaper. Because, so much crime, killing and negative stuff is always going on. It's non-stop negative news and we must listen to it, or read about it, even those about foreign countries....blah...must be something good out there. In my opinion, this year's politics is for the birds to us old people anyways. As we stand to lose no matter what party takes over the country's government. I've been told, everyone has to vote to make a difference. But do you think just voting can make a difference in the long run? If so, then it's all we got and I am for it one hundred percent. Keep The Faith Your friend Cooky :)
